about
Hello friends and lovers! Welcome to my second single, She Needs Poetry. This piece is a portrait of the artist as a young, heartbroken man, wrestling with the demons of love and sorrow. May it shine a light to you in these dark times.
lyrics
Verse 1: I saw her standing in the rain all alone
Leaving a message for someone on her phone
She was so beautiful I nearly could have died
But little did I know that she was dead inside
I looked into her eyes and they were dark as Blake
I should have known right there that this was a mistake
Chorus:
Only a verse could lift the curse she's put on me
If she had a rhyme it would shorten the time for scars to bleed
A metaphor would bring her more to life than me
She's alone, she's turned to stone, and that's why she needs poetry
Verse 2:
I had to get to know just who she really was
I looked inside her soul to see her hates & loves
And then I gave to her a book of Millay
And her reaction filled my heart with such dismay
I felt a chill run through my body, cold as Frost
And then I walked away, just feeling sad and lost
(Chorus)
bridge: on yeah oh no she said i go
Verse 3: and now I'm standing in the rain, all alone
Leaving a message to someone on my phone
Chorus 3: only a verse could lift the curse she's put on me
If she had a rhyme it would shorten the time for scars to bleed
Only a stanza would cure the cancer in her being
She's all alone, she's turned to stone, and that's why she needs poetry
